ABOUT ERIK Erik A. Evensen is an award-winning designer, illustrator, graphic novelist, and educator. His work was called “innovative and groundbreaking” by Graphic Novel Reporter and has received accolades from Graphic Design USA, Ain't It Cool News, Nerdist.com, Geeks of Doom, and the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. He regularly works as a consultant and freelance creative strategist with a number of studios, and is the owner and principal designer of Evensen Creative.
Erik began his career in corporate advertising in the high tech corridor of greater Boston, later moving on to agency positions. He holds an MFA in Design from Ohio State University, a BA in Art from the University of New Hampshire, and was a post-baccalaureate scholar at Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He sits on the advisory board for Art + Design at Bemidji State University and regularly serves as adjunct faculty, guest speaker, invited author, expert reviewer, and juror in a variety of design-related venues. He is presently a visiting faculty member at Ohio State University, teaching Visual Communication Design and coordinating the Design Foundations program. Originally from New Hampshire, he now lives near Minneapolis with his wife, conductor Erika Svanoe. He pronounces his name with a short E, like world champion ski jumper Johan Remen Evensen (no relation). |
