I worked full-time as a graphic designer and illustrator in the advertising industry in the New Hampshire seacoast and greater Boston areas from 2001–2006, before transitioning to academia, and have engaged in part-time consulting work ever since. The One Hundred Club is a private social & dining club, occupying the penthouse floor of 100 Market Street with 360 degree views of historic Portsmouth, NH and the Piscataqua River. The One Hundred Club was one of my primary clients while working at Vital Design. Projects included menu advertising, media and web advertising, promotional brochures and event marketing.

My relationship with Brown & Company began in 2001, with a year-long internship, and has lasted for decades as a recurring freelance designer and illustrator. LEAD DESIGNER: Matt Talbot CONSULTANT DESIGNER: Erik Evensen ART DIRECTOR: David Markovsky FIRM: Brown & Company Design This illustrated map contains more than 250 cultural icons, figures and attractions selected by NH Humanities Council staff and board members. I proudly worked as a consulting illustrator under my longtime friend Matt Talbot, Senior Designer at Brown, who served as creative lead and project manager. The map was developed in 2012 for New Hampshire Humanities as part of Brown & Company's Pro Bono Partnership Program that has been in place since 1999.

DESIGNER/ILLUSTRATOR: Erik Evensen ART DIRECTOR: David Markovsky FIRM: Brown & Company Design Brown & Company has worked with FIRST for over 15 years, creating everything from annual reports, event posters and T-shirts to websites for FIRST, FIRST Lego League, FIRST Lego League Junior and FIRST’s annual Championship events. This project was a part of an animated promotional bumper for the live event.

CLIENT: Phillips Exeter Academy
DESIGNERS: Andrea Cairns, Erik Evensen ART DIRECTOR: David Markovsky FIRM: Brown & Company Design I was contracted through Brown & Company to work with Phillips Exeter Academy. Brown & Company collaborated with Kristen Fogdall, director of advancement communications at Exeter to provide comprehensive campaign communications to support The Exeter Initiatives, the largest secondary school campaign on record. The Exeter Initiatives raised $352 million and engaged thousands of alumni, parents and friends over a five-year public phase. The campaign required digitization of Exeter’s original lion rampart mark, development of lion cubs rampant as a secondary mark, and design for invitations for regional campaign events.

I began my career (2002) in corporate advertising, as part of the 35-person Advertising/Creative Department of Connection (formerly PC Connection), a Fortune 1000 technology services provider and reseller with $2 billion in revenues. Individually responsible for publication design and advertising campaigns worth approximately $1.85M per quarter, with a circulation of about 400 million. Designed advertising, directed photo shoots and produced custom illustration work for the monthly PCC catalogs and seasonal materials (15 titles overall), as well as a variety of integrated advertising campaigns across a wide range of media. Developed multiple series of illustrated advertisements which appeared in various specialty publications, including Patriots Football Weekly and the Unofficial Guide to Harvard, as well as local, regional, B2B, and special interest publications. Recognized by Graphic Design USA's In-House Design Awards, Advertising category, 2006.

Marie CREATIVE DIRECTOR: Dave Genest Materials for the "Play to Win" licensed, integrated advertising campaign with New England professional sports teams (New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics). Materials included print/publication, digital, and venue advertising as well as animated multimedia spots. In addition to design and illustration, I was responsible for asset and character design, rigging, background art, and sound/music editing. Animated spots were produced with Macromedia Flash and are no longer live.

Marie CREATIVE DIRECTOR: Dave Genest Development of an ongoing comic strip for PC Connection's award-winning B2B publication, Connect Magazine, 2005–2008. Focused on the social relationships between tech products, the comic strip was conceived by digital marketing strategist Jaq Andrews and continued by copywriter Erin Harris. Connect Magazine, developed in conjunction with Boston-based KingFish & Partners, won a Print Excellence and Knowledge (PEAK) award from PSDA and Print Solutions Magazine in the Direct Mail category.

DESIGNERS: Erik Evensen, Dave Seppala ART DIRECTOR: Dave Seppala FIRM: Mighty Union (formerly The Boston Group) Captivate is a digital media advertising & content network with over 14,000 interactive elevator displays across North America. This interactive display encouraged elevator riders to pause and reflect on themselves while waiting for their floor. Coincided with an interactive print campaign.
