Descriptive + Analytical Drawing / DES 201
The Ohio State University
This course is the first in a series of three foundation-level drawing courses for students in Industrial, Interior, and Visual Communication Design. It aims to develop skills in visual thinking, problem solving, and effective communication of ideas. It serves as an introduction to freehand drawing as a skill to communicate characteristics of a people, places, and things as they pertain to the disciplines of design. This course is an observational design drawing course, with emphasis on drawing as a tool for recording, analyzing, and communicating visual information. Assignments are designed to familiarize students with observational contour drawing, cross-contour drawing, and tonal reductive drawing techniques, culminating in a visual narrative project based on the idea of task analysis.
